Go into the Water is a song by Dethklok. The lyrics talk about de-evolving back into fish like creatures, and swimming "home", back to the ocean.
History[]
"Go into the Water" was recorded in the Dethsub deep within the Mariana Trench for the band's Dethwater album. Later, someone tried to sue Dethklok because his son listened to the song and actually went into the water to live there, which nearly cost him his life. After numerous jokes made by the members of Dethklok, Ofdensen countered the man by telling him that Dethwater is intended for fish only and should not be listened to by anyone other than fish.'
The song, however, was not revealed until the final episode of the first season, "The Metalocalypse Has Begun". Finally agreeing to play material from Dethwater live, Dethklok performed "Go into the Water" at the Gulf of Danzig atop a stage filled with massive amps and swinging blades. The concert, however, was interrupted by an attack on Dethklok by the forces of General Crozier as well as Cardinal Ravenwood and the Metal Masked Assassin.
The song was later released on the Dethalbum as the second track, following "Murmaider".
Music video[]
A video for "Go into the Water", directed by Jon Schnepp, was used for live performances, and later released on the deluxe edition of the Dethalbum II as well as Dethklok's official YouTube channel. It shows footage of Dethklok's performance of the song, although unlike in the episode, it is not interrupted.
