Section heading placeholdersEdit

Hey, I see you've been deleting a lot of the section headings for the sections that are still empty. For most of the episodes those were placeholders for stuff that will be filled out later. Would it be okay to keep them? Fetuscakes (talk) 21:10, June 30, 2014 (UTC)

I only delete them because they were empty, you can always add them in again when you add the content. And also some of the headers won't get filled in, for example some episodes don't have "Song's featured in this episode" or "Trvia" or "Guest voices". For aesthetic reasons just leave them deleted until there's content to add. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 21:14, June 30, 2014 (UTC)

I am back from vacation as well, woo! Fetuscakes (talk) 11:18, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

Glad to have you back, I had actually spilled water on my old laptop so even when I was back from vacation I couldn't edit. I've since got a new computer but a new semester of college just started for me so I won't be editing frequently either. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 14:52, August 27, 2014 (UTC)
No worries, I plan to keep up :) Fetuscakes (talk) 21:54, August 27, 2014 (UTC)

Achievements/Badges Edit

Heyo, like the title suggested, would it be possible to turn them on? I just find it's eaiser to sit here for hours on end making sure things are correct on the wiki when there's something to work twoards :3 If you don't feel like turning them on that's fine too! ^-^

Chibifoxkit (talk) 05:03, September 19, 2014 (UTC)

I had given it some thought in the past about whether or not to activate badges and I determined that it really isn't something we need in our wiki (you'll notice most other wikis don't implement them either). My reasoning is that on a wiki with plenty of content already, such as ours, users would just make unnecessary pointless edits just to earn the required badges. For example, theres a badge for adding 10 categories to pages. This might cause some editors to run around adding whatever weird category they could think of just to earn the badge. I think Wikia's idea behind them was to incentivize users on a brand new wiki with no content. Another reason I think it might not be a good idea is that the achievements rank all the editors on this wiki on how many points they have from badges, this good get to peoples head that their editing opinion is somehow higher then another user because of where they rank (we're all equal on this site, admin or otherwise). Also the badges wouldn't look right on a wiki about Dethklok/Metalocalypse, it would look lame. If the badges were implemented they would likely need to be removed down the road when this wiki really gets beefed up, thus hiding someones badges, which could piss them off. Anyway those were just my thoughts on the idea, I think the badges would create a quantity over quality style of editing. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 11:56, September 19, 2014 (UTC)
As it is, I cannot argue with your opinion, however I do offer a diffrenting opinion. While what you say is a high possibility, for me personally, it was a fun little game I made for myself when I found out they existed on the Aqua Teen Hunger Force where i'm currently learning how to properly complete a wiki, for me it was a neat way to see the things that I had acomplished and like any respecting wiki user I would never just add stuff in order to get pointless badges. I love the ATHF just as much as this wiki and I want nothing more then to see it 100% pure epic. When used properly the badges can be a good way to help say "Hey, good job." Chibifoxkit (talk) 02:43, September 20, 2014 (UTC)

BadgesEdit

Hey, Chibifoxkit brought up something I did not know: wikias can have badges! I think it's a freaking awesome idea!

Apparently to implement them, the admin needs to go to Special:WikiFeatures. I understand that you're busy so here's my suggestion: you activate/implement the badges and I'll write all the code for them and find all the images to use. Right now I'm thinking that anybody that does over 500 edits gets a "brutal" badge and over 1000 edits gets a "fucking metal" badge (and maybe in the spirit of comedy of the show, 1 edit could be "regular loser" badge). Fetuscakes (talk) 05:13, September 19, 2014 (UTC)

See the reply above for a response to my opinion on badges. The badges come pre made but they might be customizable but I really don't think they're right for the wiki. I think our efforts are better spent 'completing' this wiki. With the end of Metalocalypse in sight, the amount of new information for this universal will come to a slow halt. Meaning we just need to put all the information on this wiki and it will be forever archived. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 12:00, September 19, 2014 (UTC)
Ah, good thinking, though I am also sad to see the series come to an end. Fetuscakes (talk) 21:05, September 20, 2014 (UTC)
Also, I personally think we have at least one or two more seasons to go, hopefully three or four if they want to end the show properly Chibifoxkit (talk) 02:44, September 20, 2014 (UTC)
It's already been confirmed that season 5 will be the final season, unfortunately. It's been that way for a while now. There will still be activity for the band Dethklok, but it will be slower than it already is so new information won't come in often. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:51, September 20, 2014 (UTC)
-sulks- why was I not informed of this damn it! Oh it cannot be! It's one of the only good shows           left on adult swim...  Chibifoxkit (talk) 04:16, September 20, 2014 (UTC)

Possible double pageEdit

I think there's a page for RenovationKlok (with a big K) that exists but leads to nowhere. The proper episode page is Renovationklok (with a small k). Fetuscakes (talk) 06:14, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

The guy who made the redirect just put the wrong page name, it's been corrected. Good catch. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 15:08, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

Template:NavMordhausEdit

Hey, some of the characters pages like Charles' and Knubbler's have a dead template called NavMordhaus. I went to check it and it appears you deleted it. Maybe you made an alternate Mordhaus employee/resident template? What is the name? Fetuscakes (talk) 07:02, November 22, 2014 (UTC)

I deleted it because it was created improperly, I replaced it with Template:Characters which has a section for employees. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 19:10, November 22, 2014 (UTC)
Just making sure! I'll be sure to add the proper template soon Fetuscakes (talk) 06:22, November 24, 2014 (UTC)

Locations templateEdit

Something odd is happening: I'm making changes to the Locations template but the changes are not happening in the respective pages. Do you know what could cause this? thanks Fetuscakes (talk) 04:13, November 27, 2014 (UTC)

Are you sure, I just checked Template:Locations and its showing up properly on some of the links listed. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 15:59, November 27, 2014 (UTC)
Odd, it wasn't working yesterday, maybe I didn't give it enough time...thanks for checking! Fetuscakes (talk) 05:55, November 28, 2014 (UTC)

Spam pageEdit

User Arywall and their page are 100% spam, how do I delete them? I suspect user is a bot http://dethklok.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Arywall/Facebook_Stats_Viewer_V.2.5.exe_Password

Brutal season greetingsEdit

Merry (belated) Christmas and happy New Year to a fellow brutal editor! Fetuscakes (talk) 13:32, December 29, 2014 (UTC)

Irrelevant pageEdit

The newly added System of a Down page seems irrelevant to this wikia, I don't think they have anything to do with Dethklok, Adult Swim or metal...Fetuscakes (talk)

Done and done. ;) Domorrigan (talk) 18:00, January 10, 2015 (UTC)

homepage editsEdit

I just made a test. I don't even get an error message, I just get a blank page. The preview worked but once I hit submit it just dies Fetuscakes (talk) 06:50, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

Esteban pageEdit

I don't think it needs to exist in this wikia. There's no last name or television network in which he works, no useful information. I don't even know in which episode is the character he's supposedly inspired. Fetuscakes (talk) 06:14, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

Deleted it, it's sort of irrelevant if he inspired someone, Esteban can be linked to the wikipedia article for him, theres no use for an article of him on this wiki. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:44, June 10, 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, I'm glad we agree Fetuscakes (talk) 07:33, June 10, 2015 (UTC)

DethographyEdit

I briefly want to enquire about the orthography-policy on this Wiki. Shall british spelling be altered in order to create coherency? If so, I will suppress my urges to use those filthy 's' instead of 'z'. - - Randfarmer (talk) 11:45, July 12, 2015 (UTC)

Yea, since Metalocalypse is an American show it has to follow the American English form of grammar and spelling, that includes dates. It's important to have consistency so thanks for asking. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 15:51, July 12, 2015 (UTC)
The same to you, thanks for answering! I will keep that in mind from now on. MM-DD-YYYY, is it not? - - Randfarmer (talk) 16:32, July 12, 2015 (UTC)
Yep, same goes with numbering floors (Ground floor is considered the first floor, not that that would come up too often on this wiki). TheDethklokGuy (talk) 20:23, July 13, 2015 (UTC)

The most brutalest sticker albumEdit

Good day! While we all seem to agree about badges being totally lame and not metal at all, recent calculations have proven stickers aimed at labelling wiki-articles are just above one left-right-inflection point on the sinusoidal curve of metalness. Hence, I am interested in your opinion on a further type of labelling atricles. - As far as I have been able to parse the above, the general goal by now is composing all the gathered information - e.g. by standardising the layout/structure of certain pages, adding or improving appropriate templates and uploading suitable pictures - in order to create an archivable Wiki.

Introducing labels may serve this, as long as this measure captures the wit of season one and the Dethalbum Metalocalypse to some extent. For instance, overall satisfying, complete articles would be branded with the obligatory banana sticker, a platinic-codpiece or beer tokens, whereas half-baked ones could be marked by a stamp that declares them temporarily under contract at MurderTooth Records. The front page might directly refer to the latter, too. Increasing the chances of - hows you say - accidental volunteers(?). It would also help weird european interns new editors like me to catch the core of what has to be or is being worked on at the moment. Well, now I ran out of fuel with this idea not even written on a coaster. I hope, nonetheless, that I managed to make the essence appear a little clear...ish-er. -- Randfarmer (talk) 20:45, July 13, 2015 (UTC)

I think I figured out what you're trying to say. The thing is little icons in the corner of an article is more of a Wikipedia thing (perfect articles and such) and I've never seen it used on a Wikia site. Templates such as this and this, might be more appropriate. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 22:46, July 13, 2015 (UTC)
I think Randfarmer's idea is cool, maybe we can put "under construction" labels that make certain reference to the band messing up or being too lazy to properly finish. Fetuscakes (talk) 07:04, July 14, 2015 (UTC)
If there's no objections from you DethklokGuy, I will implement the labels at my next opportunity Fetuscakes (talk) 02:16, July 16, 2015 (UTC)
I am glad you think so, Fetuscakes!; and since template-banners might serve the intended purpose as well, I would be absolutely fine with them, if they were introduced. Moreover, as there are few editors active/productive at the moment, it should not be too difficult to agree upon articles as soon as they are considered complete or otherwise. I assume that the admins would hold the final decision, not having a specific vision of how that shall work, though. Thus, thanks a lot for both of your answers - I am quite curious about what will follow ( : -- Randfarmer (talk) 16:24, July 14, 2015 (UTC)

I made the labels! Here's a cleanup one and here's a construction one. Let me know what you think of the text in each Fetuscakes (talk) 19:15, July 21, 2015 (UTC)

They look great! I might make one tomorrow and i'll show you afterwards. If I decide to tweak the templates i'll run it by you first since you made them. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 05:11, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
I have to agree with TheDehtklokGuy. The texts make an enjoyable read and the labels seem to fit this wiki stylewise. Thank you for implementing those prototypes - they will surely help me in one or another way! (Even by just putting a grin on one's face, haha.) -- Randfarmer (talk) 16:02, July 22, 2015 (UTC)

I'm considering changing the construction one to have misspellings and make it look like Skwisgaar wrote it (mainly because it's him in the picture). Something like "The page ams under consturktion because dildo editors is too lazy to get anyffink done on time." And then underneath "They ams so lazy, laying in pool of their owns blood, sleepings on the job." I'm trying to figure out how to work in "I ams, how you say, way more gooders than you!" but it doesn't seem to fit. Fetuscakes (talk) 18:24, July 22, 2015 (UTC)

To be honest thats kind of too much, I think its better to keep it simple. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 18:29, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
Reading it again, I see what you mean. Still I feel like I should fix the formatting of the line or something so the break is more natural. I will play with it later. Thanks for being honest! Fetuscakes (talk) 03:26, July 23, 2015 (UTC)
Very well, I cannot contradict the above. In my opinion, you have chosen wisely by refraining from overly blatant references, as I believe that the labels are less of a figurehead giving the regular jack-off a cue than a supporting annotation for the (future) contributor. With this in mind, balance is highly important. (Oi, where's the absinthe?) -- Randfarmer (talk) 22:59, July 22, 2015 (UTC)
Just made one for Song lyrics. Nothing flashy, but its necessary, other wiki's use similar disclaimers.TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:19, July 28, 2015 (UTC)
I like it! The only thing I would tweak is the background color, the blue links are hard to read on black Fetuscakes (talk) 02:28, July 28, 2015 (UTC)
You're right, tweaked the color. Also, I would suggest you remove the "Float-left" code from your templates so that they don't get sandwiched in between content in stub articles. Instead it'll just leave a blank space above it instead of inserting the template in an undesired way. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:36, July 28, 2015 (UTC)
Sure, I can change the templates, should I try doing it for every page or just the new ones? Fetuscakes (talk) 06:55, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
Just go to the templates you created remove that coding. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 18:48, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
Hey there, I just want to advert to the possibility of changing the colour of a link (either genereally in the wiki's script or specifically in the HTML). The latter alone would require an 'inline-block' so that the mouseover does not evoke the common blue line which might distract from the actual colour. Instead of this line, we could then implement a new JavaScript function. Perhaps, a different mouseover-effect that changes the colour of a link once ... mouseovered. Apart from that, the templates are to my liking, too! -- Randfarmer (talk) 23:21, July 28, 2015 (UTC)
There's honestly no way we're going to change the color of links, it would only make things confusing. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 18:49, July 30, 2015 (UTC)
Haha, all right, changing them non-specifically would really be a little radical and likewise confusing. Thanks for the honesty! - My intention was to help in case you would rather prefer the darker box colour. But I guess I was a little overenthusiastic, since chances are high you've already known the above. ( ; -- Randfarmer (talk) 20:28, July 30, 2015 (UTC)

Throwing up some thoughts Edit

Hey there, good to see you alive! Since Hulu possibly has plans on chewing beloved Metalocalypse again, I have recently thought about the administration's motives as a kernel of this (currently tiny) community. I wonder, do Fetuscakes and you still consider tidying up this Wikia to pay some tribute to the effort that you and other contributors have invested in the articles?

The above reads rude by all means. Nevertheless, there are several – more or less reasonable – changes which could be made. Especially concerning the interface and its ease of use! For instance, we may work on infobox-/ quote-/ note-templates of similar design and coding-syntax that will be properly displayed on mobile devices and add compressed questionnaires to each template-page, so that one is able to copy them instead of having to guess and try. Scrollable references at the end of content-pages could avoid superfluous discussions and the reader may decide for himself about the reliability of certain information. I remember some scrappy and/or unfavourable coding, too, which we might want to get rid of.

In addition, I myself miss out quite a few articles – especially those addressing minor topics (e.g. Ernie or Seething Vortex). Perhaps, they are not optimally linked and tagged. And wouldn't things become clearer, if we upgraded pages of accumulative function (e.g. List of Characters) or even appended new ones (e.g. a tag and article about in-universe endorsements and merchandise / locations)? Moreover, there could be introduced new guidelines regarding 'Featured Articles'. Apart from this, the Wiki's twitter-page appears defunct to me – which is a shame since the father of all evil is pretty active there ( ;

I hope you vaguely understand where I am coming from. Cheers! -- Randfarmer (talk) 10:25, September 27, 2015 (UTC)

Feel free to take the initiative to improve this wiki wherever you can, but as of right now i've been engulfed with both being a full time college student and from trying to maintain an active social life. So editing this wiki extensively is not something i have the energy for at the moment. I still try and help wherever I can, and I think i've already contributed a great deal, not only to this wiki but almost exclusively to the wikipedia articles, after a while you get burnt out and need to take breaks. We have the rest of our lives to make this wiki perfect. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:32, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
I'm much like TheDethklokGuy, I want to make this wiki great and complete, but sadly it has to fall as priority #3 after school and work. Right now I'm focusing on completing all the episode pages (a complete page for "Dethvanity" will be released later this week). For other stuff, especially the ease of use and interlinking, I'm all for it, but I can only work on it a few days a week. Same with adding stuff where it's missing and deleting duplicates: it will be done, just slowly.
Your help in this is very much appreciated!! Fetuscakes (talk) 20:39, September 28, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt answeres! Imho, you've both contributed a frightening amount of content – thus, it's only natural if not urgent to take it easy here and there. One shan't overdo it. Nevertheless, in the first instance it would be great to have a look at the coding of templates. The newer version seems to be easy to learn. If it were just about revising code, I would not hesitate to experiment in the sandbox and adjust max-sizes or the colour in some templates. But it's initially about CSS, which is beyond my possibilities. All in all, I'll try to help out as far/often as I can. And weren't the last few weeks full to bursting with stuff happening? Have a brutal week! -- Randfarmer (talk) 17:37, October 5, 2015 (UTC)
If you need me to put a code in this wiki's CSS just let me know and i'll put it in and see how it reacts. I've tried to mess around with the CSS before but it proved to be a huge headache. As far as MetalcoalypseNow goes, we might as well wait 2 more days and see what it is before we do a write-up on it. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 13:16, October 6, 2015 (UTC)
Pleased to read that! I've finally come up with the idea of trying to adjust the background myself via CSS. Remember that scene where Murderface had to wipe up Get Thee Hence's puke? Uggh, I suppose I owe you some pizza rolls (and me a double espresso.) On the other hand, I might have tasted blood now. If time permits, I'll have a closer look at this topic. We may also move the discussion about portable templates to the Watercooler or even the Tribunal Room. -- Randfarmer (talk) 11:26, October 15, 2015 (UTC)

Happies Edit

Hallowed be þy birðday, well, a little belated! Hopefully, you're still enjoying the show and, of course, writing about it. Is a conspiracy to be expected? You both, really? -- Randfarmer (talk) 14:22, October 29, 2015 (UTC)

Hahaha, pure coincidence that me and feutuscakes have the same birthday. Thank you for the wishes though. Hopefully this Metalocalypse Now campaign has become successful. I'm in too deep to give up on Metalocalypse. TheDethklokGuy (talk) 02:25, October 31, 2015 (UTC)
